    Description

Please email with any questions. Group of six white porcelain bone dishes with a crescent shape, molded Rococo scrolls and hand painted gilt edge made in Austria and imported by T A Carpenter & Son, Newport, R I. They measure 6 1/2" long and 3 1/4" at the widest point. Five are transfer decorated in brown with a vignette of "Purgatory at Second Beach" and the sixth bone dish shows "Fort Dumpling's Newport". They are from a local estate and are all that remains from a likely larger set. Some wear to the gold banding and transfer decoration on all six, the dish showing Fort Dumpling has a small hairline and a hairline that occurred during manufacture or firing. Newport Historical Society has a souvenir pitcher in their collection made in the same Austrian factory and imported by the same company.
