Recently all of my parrot angels sold out. Afterwards, I was contacted by some lovely people who had recently lost one of their online friends who like them loved parrots and communicating with fellow parrot owners and enthusiasts. I was saddened to hear of losing their friend and her pet in a horrible house fire. Unfortunately, I was out of parrot charms and promised that I would order new charms and make new angels. I finally got the angels finished. So, these angels and their parrots are dedicated to Alice and her parrot, Penne.
The parrot charms I had to choose from were all pretty, so I ordered all four colors available. I carefully matched the charms to glass that looks beautiful and compliments the pretty birds. And I know that parrots don't really come in the colors I am offering, but maybe there are parrots these colors in parrot heaven.
The turquoise angel in the photo is sold out. Unfortunately, I do not have time right now to redo my photography. I've been having trouble with my camera that I'm sure is all operator error.
The second angel and parrot combination is an iridized white with a white parrot with a multi-colored wing. The angel's dress is an iridized white streaky glass, which means parts are see through while other parts are not. The photo shows that this angel actually looks green. That is the iridized glass reflecting various colors: green, pink, yellow, and purple. The wing is an iridized clear seedy glass.
The third angel wears an iridized pink dress and the parrot is a gorgeous dark pink with a multi-colored wing. This angel's dress is opaque, which means it is not see through. The wing is also an iridized clear seedy glass.
The fourth and last angel wears a clear, pink, and white barogue glass, and the parrot is pale pink with a multicolored wing. Barogue glass is hand stirred by the glass maker as it rolls out of the furnace at the glass factory. The resulting glass has swirls and whirls and streaks of color. No two pieces of this glass ever look the same way. These glass makers are truly artists of their trade. The wing for this angel is an iridized waterglass. Waterglass is stretched while hot which results in a wavy surface that results water, hence the waterglass name.
The parrots I use are jewelry charms because I need a metal surface to solder to the angels hand.
Seedy glass has bubbles and elongated bubbles that are seed shaped. Iridized glass has a metallic salts coating added to the glass at the factory. That coating results in an often shiny, but always colorful reflection of various colors depending on how the light hits the glass. Some say it resembles an oil slick while others see a rainbow.
Each little angel is roughly 3-3/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide. Each stands on a wire ring base.
