    Description

This is a  beautiful collection of butterscotch amber   opaque bakelite FATURAN  islamic  prayer beads , complete 5 sets of prayer beads all for the price of less than one .I have had these for over 40 years and these are not reproduction or new lathe  .They have been in a drawer for all this time and it is time for others to enjoy .they have not been used and they will shine as you use them .The color is accurate in the photos deep brownish red  .The imames all original hard to describe the beauty and the unusual color  , Beads set number 1weighs 73gms and each bead measures 17x15mm , set number 2 weighs128gms and each bead measures 20x18mm, set number 3 weighs78gms and each bead is 17x15mm , set number 4 weighs 69gms and each bead measures about 17x15mm in diameter , set number 5 weighs 85gms and each bead is about 17x15mm ,the beads are varying from barrels to ovals and this is an unusual opportunity to have all for less than the price of one, some of the pitting you see in the photos and some encrusted dusts will go away as you use the beads and the human oil of hands removes all as these have not been used for over 40 years and I did not want to shine or alter anything . I have collected Bakelite all my adult life and I cherish the material, beware of new imitations also miscalled Bakelite and faturan , this is real. the colors are typically very much desired in the Middle East , earthy butterscotch and reddish browns .They have not been used and will have minor pitting from original carving that will ultimately disappear as your hands use it and oil things up .These prayer beads have been  tested by  a hot needle in an inconspicuous place  revealing 100% bakelite phenolic smell results and have been tested with simichrome revealing after vigorous rubbing a slight yellowish stain .I believe were carved in the early 1950s .The cord has been recently replaced and is nylon thick 1.5mm and will stay there a lifetime   .Please look at the photos as they speak for themselves. The condition is excellent except for minor scratches and pitting with no cracks or defects  .This is NOT recently carved or new bakelite  .This is not new lathe from old material ,it is an  old carving hard to find . No international shipping sorry! will only ship to a USA address.
