    Description

    What we have here is a clean and running American Flyer No. 342DC 0-8-0 Switcher Steam Engine that really isn't 'DC'. This one left New Haven with a 'DC' motor, but at some point over the last 70 years someone installed a reverse unit and an 'AC' motor so that it could be used on the majority of American Flyer lay-outs. This one has a replacement four-wire connection. It ran and reversed as well as these engines normally operate. It smoked and ran well and the lights worked both front and rear. All of the tender steps are present as all all of the intricate handrails as well as the hook at the top of the ladder at the back of the tender. The lone negative on the outward appearance is that most of the visor over the front headlight is missing. I'll grade the engine at C-7. Please take a look at the pictures. This would be a great engine to add to your lay-out. Don't let this one get away. Have fun bidding on this engine. WMF.

    Trains shows are getting ready to start again!! The Great Midwest Train Show in the Chicago area will start its monthly run on August 8. I will also be doing a Great Train Expo show in Dayton, Ohio on August 14-15. I will doing other shows in the fall and winter as the dates are confirmed. During the season I do various trains shows in the Midwest including the monthly Great Midwest Train Show at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Chicago as well as the two TCA Shows in York, PA along with some Great Train Shows. If you feel that our paths are going to cross at one of these shows and you want the trains hand-delivered that would be fine to help you save on postage. Still, pay for the item at the time of purchase here on Ebay, but no postage costs.
